lETTER - Listen to the people
THE response from Morley residents to Labour’s proposals for 7,200 housing units across Morley in their LDF core strategy has been magnificent.
By the close of consultations last Thursday, over 1,000 objections to the plan had been received by Leeds City Council .
This is by far the largest number of objections from any community from around the Leeds City Council area.
We are grateful for the support we have received for our campaign and we have pledged to continue the fight to stop the over-development of Morley and to defend Morley green field and greenbelt land.
Labour-controlled Leeds City Council will now have to decide how to react to this overwhelming resistance to their proposals from Morley and we will be holding them accountable if they fail to listen to local people.
With 26,000 granted but unused planning permissions on mainly brownfield sites across other areas of Leeds there can be no justification for sacrificing Morley greenfield and greenbelt sites.
