LETTERS: Coun Joe Tetley should be honoured
1st March 2010 Morley Town hall. Story about town hall archives. Pictured L/R with some of the archives:Dr Clive McManus and Cllr Joe Tetley PICTURE: MATTHEW PAGE
IT seems very unfair that red tape won’t allow Coun Joe Tetley to be awarded posthumously the MBE for which he was nominated and which he thoroughly deserved.
If the Queen can’t honour him in this way for his work in the community in Morley, however, then surely Morley itself could.
A simple way would be to name/rename some appropriate building or street in his memory, or erect a plaque in the Town Hall or the library.
Another way would be for Morley Town Council to make a special award to Maisie in recognition of all that Joe did for the town.
