PUPILS at Queenswood School in Morley are looking forward to their first summer fair in their new school premises on Saturday.
The fair, being held from 10.30am-1pm, is the first at the school’s new home in Queen Street since its move from Commercial Street and name change from Wakefield Tutorial School.

There will be lots of games in the playground, which is up the cobbl
ed yard opposite Blockbuster video, as well as a barbecue, cafe and cake stall, games, toys and a plant stall.

Headteacher Julie Tanner said: “We had a fantastic response to the recent open day with a large number of people coming to visit the school, so we’re hoping that we’ll have the same level of response on Saturday!”

Last week the school held a dedication service at Central Methodist Church with parents, former teachers and well-wishers joining staff and pupils as they celebrated the new vision for the school.

“It was a beautiful occasion and after the service in church we formed a long procession and walked across the lawns to the school where the Rev Heather Cooper led a short ceremony with prayers and some beautiful singing from our children,” said Mrs Tanner.

The children were also having a party yesterday afternoon with Daniel Dancer DJ in honour of their new school.
