MOVIE lovers can catch the next film to be screened at Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield on Tuesday - Milk, starring Sean Penn.
Penn won an Oscar for his role in the film as politician and gay rights activist Harvey Milk.

As the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in America, he was a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. In 1978, one year after this election, Harvey Milk was shot and killed by a former city supervisor.

Milk is from acclaimed director Gus Van Sant whose credits include Good Will Hunting and Elephant and also stars Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild), Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men) and James Franco (Spider-Man 1, 2 and 3).

Milk received huge acclaim when it was released and received eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. It went on to win two, one for Best Actor in a Leading Role for Sean Penn and Best Original Screenplay for Dustin Lance Black.

LBT films continue with Woody Allen's latest film Vicky Cristina Barcelona on Thursday, August 6 and more films for the autumn season will be announced in July.
