YORKSHIRE'S unique youth opera company – the only one of its kind in Britain – is inviting music lovers from across the county to its latest dramatic double bill production.
Leeds Youth Opera (LYO), which draws its members from all backgrounds from across Yorkshire, wants to explode opera's elitist image with the staging of two cutting edge productions at The Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds from July 9-12.
Tickets are on sale now for Carl Orff's rarely staged Carmina Burana and the world stage premier of The Nightingale and the Rose.
The latter production, based on the Oscar Wilde short story, is written by Oliver Rudland, a 24-year-old composer from Leeds.
For further information on ticket sales, contact The Carriageworks Theatre Box Office on 0113 224 3801 or visit: www.leedsyouth opera.org.uk
