SINGER-songwriter and top producer Edwyn Collins is heading for Leeds as part of his first tour since he suffered a life-threatening brain haemorrhage three years ago.
The illness left the former Orange Juice front man in hospital for six months and barely able to walk or talk and certainly not play the guitar.
But after going through the agonising process of teaching himself to be a musician again he was back on the scene last year with a new album and will be playing songs from it as well as old favourites at the Cockpit in Leeds on Saturday.
Support comes from Cut Off Your Hands and tickets for the gig are £17.50, available from Crash on 0113 243 6743 (www.crashrecords.co.uk) or Jumbo on 0113 245 5570 (www.jumborecords.co.uk)
Edwyn Collins is perhaps best known for his massive international hit A Girl Like You, but he was also part of Orange Juice who were a success on the indie music scene in the 1980s, with Rip It Up proving their biggest hit. He built his own studio in 1994 and became one of the most respected and in-demand producers in the UK, working with the likes of The Proclaimers and The Cribs before his hospitalisation.
