SURPRISING though it may be to many, rockers Europe have more songs in their armoury than that huge worldwide hit of theirs and they aim to prove it with a gig in Leeds next month.
The Swedish rock band will always be best known for their anthem, The Final Countdown, but they have been responsible for eight albums, plus a number of compilations, stretching back 30 years.
And following the release of their latest, Last Look At Eden, they are heading out on tour and will be appearing in Leeds at the O2 Academy on Thursday, February 18.
Support comes from Diamond Head and tickets are available from
www.ticketweb.co.uk or
Jumbo and
Crash Records in Leeds.
After their heyday in the 1980s, in the time of big haired rock bands and big riffs, Europe split up to work on various solo projects, but they have regrouped in the past few years, have some new material to parade and are hitting the road off the back of a few festival appearances in 2009.
Expect a healthy smattering of new numbers at the Leeds gig, plus favourites from a back catalogue that includes UK top 40 singles Rock The Night, Carrie and Superstitious, as well as that Countdown song that had a life all of its own as a number one single in 25 countries.
