HALF-term sees the first of Oakwell Hall and Country Park's 'Young Rangers' days, aimed at children between eight and 14 who want to try something a bit more challenging.
On Wednesday, February 17, there will be a chance to help the park rangers build nest boxes. There will be two sessions - 10am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4pm. They are free but places must be booked in advance by contacting Oakwell on 01924 326240.

A consent form must be signed by parents/carers before children can take part in the scheme, which is designed to teach them practical conservation skills, while helping the park and its wildlife at the same time.

Also taking place throughout half-term is a Birds of a Feather quiz trail around the hall gardens. Aimed at children aged five-12 years, the quiz will challenge children to find the birds hidden in the walled garden. Quiz sheets can be picked up at the vsitor centre shop from 11am-5pm Monday to Friday and noon-5pm Saturday and Sunday.

The quiz is free and all correct entries will go into a prize draw, the two winners of which (one infant, one junior) will receive a book on birds.

For further information contact Oakwell Hall on 01924 326240.
