A BAND who revel in their advancing years while putting on energetic performances that would put many a younger group to shame have announced their first gig in Morley, a town that's home for several members.
Men of a Certain Age will be appearing at The Woodman Inn, Churwell, on Saturday, June 21, following a successful tour of Dewsbury, Ossett and Kirkstall.
Lead singer Neil Beecham, said this will be the first time that the band has played its home
town.
He said: "We've been going for about eight months, now and this is the first time that we've played a gig in Morley. We're pleased to be playing The Woodman, which has just introduced live music.
"Plenty of people in Morley know us and we'd love to see 'em all down there on Saturday night."
Men of A Certain Age was formed by four friends who decided that starting a rock band would be a better hobby than gardening or building a model railway.
"It's all about denial," says bassist, Gav Handley. "We may all be 50 or thereabouts, but in the head we're all still in the first flush of youth. There wasn't much on telly, so we thought we'd become rock gods instead.
"We do a range of our own stuff, a bit of punk and lots of really good rock numbers from the '70s and '80s."
Men of A Certain Age will be appearing at The Woodman, Dewsbury Road, on Saturday from 8.30pm. Admission is free.
