LIKE the Beatles, they started their musical careers playing at the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool.
Unlike many of their contemporaries, they are still together and still wowing the crowds with their catchy tunes.

The Searchers are as popular today as they have ever been, and this month they will be playing a charity night at Batley's Frontier.

Their hits include Needles and Pins and Every Time I Walk Into The Room, which will no doubt be among their repertoire on Friday, November 27.

They will be supported by The Fabulous Ageing Rockers who have a number of Morley members and who have now organised several charity gigs at the Frontier.

Drummer John Hudson, of Norristhorpe, said: "The Ageing Rockers are no strangers to the Frontier, having wowed crowds over the years with our range of 60s and 70s music.

"We are, of course, almost as old as The Searchers – well one or two are actually older!"

Doors open at 7.15pm with the Ageing Rockers taking to the stage at 8pm. Their set will be followed by The Searchers.

Net proceeds from the night will go to the Dewsbury Women's Health Group, Dewsbury Hospital Diabetes Fund and West Riding Masonic Charities.

Tickets are £15 from the Frontier – call 01924 442122, or from John Hudson on 01924 514203.

"In addition to the live entertainment, there will be a number of raffle draws with some fabulous prizes which have been kindly donated," said John.

"They have proved very popular at past events and have raised a lot of extra cash on the night for the chosen charities."
