Starry night in store at Dewsbury Town Hall

A PREVIOUS winner of the Leeds Conductors Competition, Garry Walker, will be appearing with cellist Guy Johnston and the Northern Sinfonia for an out of this world concert next month.
Jupiter and the Sky at Night will hear classics from Sibelius, Schumann and Mozart at Dewsbury Town Hall on Thursday, February 4.

Garry Walker won the Leeds Conductors Competition at the age of 25 and since then has gone on to conduct some of the world's best orchestras, including the Hallé, English Northern Philharmonia, Deutsches Symphonie Orchester in Berlin and Collegium Musicum in Denmark.

He currently holds the position of permanent guest conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Gifted cellist Guy Johnston has become a fast-rising star on the international concert stage after making an extraordinary debut in London at the BBC Proms where he played the Elgar Cello Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin.

He has performed worldwide and has won many awards including a BRIT award for Best British Newcomer in 2002 and Young Musician of the Year in 2000.

Jupiter and the Sky at Night will include Sibellius' Pelléas et Mélisande, Schumann's Cello Concerto and Mozart's Symphony No.41 in C Jupiter.

There will be the regular pre-concert discussion in the main hall at 6.40pm for concert-goers to gain an extra insight into the evening's performance.
