THE £30,000 being given to Drighlington should be used to ensure the continuing presence of the police community support officers.
The dedication they have shown has begun to reduce unsociable behaviour that was prevalent before they were appointed.

Their achievements must not be taken for granted, but this should be covered by another budget.

Another matter to be considered is the 30mph signs at the approaches to Drighlington. These should be modernised and made more visible to bring to the notice of inattentive motorists the pedestrian crossing at the junction of Fairfax Avenue and Wakefield Road.

Litter patrols should also be increased from what is obviously an after thought to an effective level and litterbins that used to be on lampposts should be replaced and, if this were done, the bins must be emptied regularly.
