THIS week I attended a Morley Sports Centre working group meeting.
It seems that every time I attend these meetings people are unhappy at losing facilities, yet the politicians seem to support this, even though Morley is a growing town.
And if our youngsters have fewer sports they will be growing around the waist! The closure date for our sports centre has not been announced, but it should be sometime in summer 2008.
It was good to see in last week's Observer and Advertiser, Coun Beverley keeping us up to date with the plans for a Morley bus station.
But it is a shame that all the politicians have allowed the car to swallow Morley, all the more reason we need a bus station and a better sports centre.
If you would like to lodge your objection to a sports centre with fewer facilities for our larger town then sign this on-line petition - http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/list/open?cat=616&offset=200
And whilst I am on my soapbox, the litter around Morley is a disgrace - empty beer cans and even bottles and glasses.
Is this what it's like to live in a cafe culture, with 24-hour drinking?
