McFly to play park gig

CHART-topping heartthrobs McFly are to play in Dewsbury this summer.

Tom, Danny, Harry and Dougie will headline a free show in the town's Crow Nest Park on Sunday, August 23, after Kirklees Council secured the band for Party in the Park, which is part of a free weekend of live music in Dewsbury, called Concerts in the Park.

The announcement will no doubt excite thousands of fans who've helped propel McFly to stardom since they found fame in 2004.

The band have had seven number one singles and two number one albums, and played to audiences around the world.

So busy is their schedule that Dewsbury welcomes McFly on the same day they grace the main stage at V Festival.

Following their performance in Staffordshire they will be whisked up to Kirklees where thousands of people will be ready to sing along to hits such as All About You and Lies.

The council is also in talks with other well-known bands to support McFly.

Details of how to get tickets for the show will be announced soon.
