A 'LONG overdue' decision by Aire Valley Homes to remove a public bench in West Ardsley has been given a cautious welcome by a local councillor.
Coun Karen Renshaw, who has branded the bench on Smithy Lane an 'eyesore' and a 'public safety hazard' has been calling on the local housing office to repair of replace the bench since last summer.

She said the bench had been left in a dangerous state of disrepair for more than six months and while welcoming the decision to remove the broken seat, Coun Renshaw has reiterated that the once popular bench must be replaced for the benefit of the community.

She said: "I believe the seat must be replaced for the community to enjoy. This community has had to wait long enough for this simple request to be carried out."
