A DRIGHLINGTON design student is hoping his invention of a bounce-proof camcorder will interest electronics firms.
Michael Fould, 22, of Moorside Gardens, came up with the design for his final year project at the University of Central Lancashire where he has been studying product design.

His rugby-ball-shaped camcorder which can be dropped with impunity and even thrown around, went on display in the university's design show alongside fine art, ceramics, fashion and textile designs and photography.

Michael, who went to Drighlington Junior School and Morley High, took four months to complete the camcorder, rearranging the parts and adding rubber cladding and shock absorbers.

He said: "I started off looking at traditional camcorders and was looking at what I could do that was a bit different.

"I then took a basic camcorder and started changing bits around eventually ending up with bouncing it around. I thought that would be a great idea."

Now at the end of his degree Michael is looking forward to a well earned holiday and then hopes to get a job in product design.
