PARKING restrictions in Morley's main Queensway car park have now come into force – although motorists are being given a two-week period of grace to adjust to the changes.
The restrictions affect the bottom half of the car park closest to Morrisons supermarket, while the top half will remain restriction-free.
Shoppers will only be able to stay for a maximum of three hours in the restricted section. A free parking ticket must be obtained from one of the new machines in the car park and displayed on windscreens.
Anyone in that section of the car park not displaying a ticket, or who has stayed longer than the three hours, will receive a £25 penalty charge notice.
Disabled spaces are not included in the scheme, which is run by Leeds City Council.
Morley town centre manager Peter Mudge said motorists would be given until mid-October to get used to the scheme before penalty notices were introduced.
