TINGLEY'S very own comedy legend Billy Pearce did the honours on Saturday by opening St Francis RC Primary School's gala.
The panto star and stand-up revisited the school for the day after his brief trip to visit the children there a few weeks ago.
Billy did the opening honours and chatted with visitors at the gala, which has been hailed a massive success by organisers.
There were displays from the Leeds Martial Arts College, Tierney Irish Dancing and a local gymnastics group.
Visitors young and old were also able to enjoy a football tournament, bouncy castle, coconut shy, tombola, 'adopt a teddy' scheme, face painting and there will stalls selling plants, books, jewellery and cakes.
A spokeswoman for the school said everyone was delighted that Billy had been able to come along on the day and that it had been a successful event - with even the weather being kind.
It's believed that over £1,000 will have been raised for school funds through the event.
Some raffle prizes are yet to be collected so if you haven't checked your tickets there's still time. Anyone still to claim their prize can do so by contacting the school on 2145424.
