THORPE Residents and Community Group would like to thank everyone involved in making their fun day and bring and buy sale a huge success.
The day raised over £200 for local man Jason Hawker who was diagnosed with a brain tumour earlier this year. It is hoped money raised will enable Jason and his family to go on holiday.

Rebecca Gray, chairwoman of the community group, said: "We are delighted with the amount raised but more importantly we are overwhelmed by the support the community has shown for Jason and his family.

"We need to say a big thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes and items for the sale and tombola, a special thank you to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats who donated a family ticket to a home game as first prize, which was won by Marie Gaunt who just happens to be a huge Trinity supporter.

"Once again, thank you to all concerned and also to the Observer and Advertiser for highlighting Jason's story."
