MORLEY Bottoms is to benefit from a national scheme to fill empty shop fronts and make them more attractive to potential tenants.
Leeds City Council has been allocated more than £52,600 – £13,000 of which has been earmarked for schemes between Chapel Hill and Queensway.
Speaking at Monday's meeting of the South Outer Area Committee, acting area manager Keith Lander said: "The £13,000 allocated to Morley will help Morley Town Centre Management in what they are trying to do down there.
"Now it is really down to this patch to come up with schemes to use it."
Applications for grants up to a maximum of £2,600, can be made by owners, tenants or leaseholders of commercial properties within the stipulated area.
The money can be spent on new signage, window improvements or other things designed to improve the look of the building and make it more likely to attract new tenants.
Application forms are available from town centre manager Peter Mudge, who can be contacted on 07891 272510, and returned to him before Friday, February 19.
