HUNDREDS of talented amateur writers put pen to paper to tell their tales for the first ever Morley Literature Festival short story competition last year.
The judges, headed by festival director Paula Truman, were overwhelmed by the number of entries that flooded into the Observer and Advertiser’s office in the run-up to the festival last October.
The theme of the competition was the same as the festival - Everyone Has A Story To Tell.
After months of reading through them all the incredibly difficult decision of picking the winners was finally achieved and the lucky four have been presented with their prizes at Morley Town Hall.
The winners were Alexander Douglas (eight-11 category), Rosa Gillette (under eight), Alex Harrison (12-16) and Stuart Pereira (adult).
Each were presented with a certificate to mark their achievements and book tokens courtesy of festival sponsors Bertram Library Services, Morley.
