CHRISTMAS officially comes to Morley tonight when the town's lights are switched on by Hollyoaks resident Frankie Osborne.
Soap star Helen Pearson will be lighting up the town with the help of Ronnie the Rhino, Father Christmas and an impressive fireworks display.

Hundreds of people are expected to pack into Morley town centre and Queen Street, from the junction with Queensway, will be closed to traffic for the duration of the event.

The entertainment will start at 5.45pm with brass band music and the appearance of Leeds Rhinos' mascot Ronnie on the stage in front of Morley Town Hall.

By 6pm things will be in full swing, with face painters roaming the crowd while on stage comperes from Magic 828 will be getting the crowd into the Christmas mood.

The stage will then be packed with members of the Salvation Army band, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from the Carriageworks pantomime, and a pack of Christmas elves.

Another special guest will, of course, be Father Christmas, who will be making his annual appearance in Morley.

After the lights come on there will be the traditional spectacular fireworks display.

Come back tomorrow to see all the pictures from tonight's switch-on here on the website.
