POLICE are urging residents to be vigilant following a rise in the number of lead thefts in the Morley area.
There were 14 thefts reported to police between May 6 to 8, including homes on Bruntcliffe Road, Scotchman Lane, Tennyson Terrace, Britannia Road, Albert Road and Victoria Road.

Residents are now being urged to consider using anti-climb paint, which is readily available in shops, that helps prevent potential thieves from accessing the lead.

Police also advise people to use the paint on the lead itself and on drain pipes.

Anyone who has any information about any theft of lead, or sees anything suspicious, should contact police on 0845 6060606.

Further information about crime prevention can be found at www.westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk/crimeprevention
