CAROLYN Sinclair was all set to take part in the Great North Run this weekend – until the arrival of baby Patrick forced husband John to take over the running challenge!
Carolyn, of Morley, had taken part in the race several times for Diabetes UK and was all set to do so again, until she discovered she was pregnant with the couple's first child.

John quickly stepped up and volunteered to run in her place and he hopes to make both Carolyn and their baby son Patrick, who was born on August 23, proud.

The 34-year-old said Carolyn had run for the charity for the past few years as her grandad had diabetes.

"I have taken part in the Great North Run a few times so I know what to expect but, as I am not a natural runner, it will be a great challenge," he said.

"I hope other people will join me in supporting such an important cause and help to raise vital funds for the charity."
