MORLEY schoolchildren are aiming to write themselves into the Guinness Book of World Records at a unique event being hosted at Harewood House this Friday.
The event, which has been organised by the Leeds Rugby Foundation, will see over 100 primary schools and over 1,000 children from across Yorkshire take part in the world's largest touch rugby festival.
The Leeds Rugby Foundation is the charitable
trust who run the community activity for Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Carnegie rugby clubs working with children throughout Yorkshire, many of who without the work down by the Foundation would never have access to playing rugby.
Children from Asquith, Gildersome, Morley Newlands and Churwell Primary Schools will all be taking part in the world record attempt.
The event, which is completely free of charge, will allow schools access to the Harewood House Grounds and give them the chance to meet players from both clubs and have their photo taken with the engage Super League and Carnegie World Club Challenge trophies.
Each team consists of 10 players from year five or six with a minimum of three girls in each team. All the children taking part will receive a goodie bag courtesy of the Leeds Rugby Foundation and Harewood House.
The event was the brainchild of the Foundation's Rugby Development Officer Gareth Cook, who commented: "The response from schools across the region has been fantastic and better than we could ever have anticipated.
"We are extremely grateful to Lord Harewood for allowing us to use Harewood House, which will form a dramatic backdrop for all the children's games.
"It should be a fantastic day and a great chance for the children to enjoy themselves, get exercise and learn new skills."
