A CHARITY walk has been organised in memory of a former Morley Fire Station crew manager who died earlier this year.
The 'Swiss Christmas Stroll' is being organised by Ellen Wilson and her daughters, Jessica and Rebecca, to carry on the work of their father Tony Wilson.
Tony, 45, from Leeds, was watch manager at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue's HQ in Birkenshaw
and before that had worked at Morley for many years.
He had also served at Dewsbury, Pudsey, Bramley and Stanningley.
His family said besides being a special husband and father he had been a great fundraiser for the charity.
"Tony loved his career in the fire service and, along with his colleagues, he raised thousands of pounds for The Fire Fighters Charity," Mrs Wilson said.
"Tony was devoted to his charity work and this has spurred us on to maintain the good work he carried out. I have organised this walk to thank the fire service for all their support since Tony's death.
"Everyone is welcome to join in and Santa has even offered to head the walk."
The 'Swiss Christmas Stroll' will set off from Morley Fire Station at 11am on Sunday, December 6, and finish at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Headquarters at Birkenshaw, where hot drinks and mince pies will be served.
It will cost £1 to enter and there will be prizes for those who raise the most money. Every child talking part will receive some Christmas sweets and all the money raised will go to the Fire Fighters Charity, which supports injured fire fighters.
Every year thousands of fire fighters are injured whilst protecting the public and the charity assists over 17,000 beneficiaries every year, by providing support services.
