Sainsbury's at the White Rose Centre are helping raise awareness and spread the message that second-hand bras are actually in demand, particularly in West Africa where traders can buy and sell quality used garments at affordable prices.
In partner
ship with the recycling company, Bag It Up, the bras collected will be resold and the funds raised will go towards the Yorkshire Air Ambulance's life saving service.
Since the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity launched their BAG IT UP Bra Campaign in September 2006, ladies in West Yorkshire have so far collected over 97,000 bras, helping to raise vital funds for this "supporting" campaign to save lives across our region.
Campaign organiser Louise Knapton said: "We would like to thank store manager Tim Histed and in particular his assistant Karen Stead for the launch of this campaign in their store.
"Karen says that colleagues in the store have already started collecting their old bras and customers can place theirs in the collection box near the customer service desk.
"Our customers are always supportive of our charity events and I am sure that they will give their full support to this."
