A TEAM of international theological students have been thanked for their sterling work in Morley.
Mayor of Morley Coun Joyce Sanders received them at the town hall and thanked them for their hard work on a wide range of community projects during their 10-day stay in the town.
The 11 students from Capernwray College were invited to the town by Morley Community Church as part of their Community Links week.
They helped 10 local organisations, putting in 1,100 volunteer hours and taking part in projects such as a pensioners’ tea, three community coffee mornings, an after-school children’s club and a midweek youth event.
The students also took the Amazing Acts exhibition to three primary schools, bringing bible stories to life with a mixture of drama, picture panels, food tasting and dressing up.
The team also took worship services at Morley Community Church and Newlands Methodist Chapel.
The students are all taking a one-year theological course and one of its requirements is that they spend a week working alongside communities.
The Community Links week was devised by members of Morley Community Church as part of its on-going programme to meet social and spiritual needs of Morley residents.
