AN East Ardsley man has been jailed for his part in the brutal attack of a teenage girl who was thrown into a freezing lake at a Leeds park.
Nicola Penrice, 19, was driven to Golden Acre Park by Carl Jeynes and Imran Khaliq – two men she considered friends, before she was attacked in broad daylight, Leeds Crown Court heard.
The terrified girl was then thrown into the park lake and left alone on April 6 this year. The two men then fled.
Miss Penrice had agreed to go for a drive to the park with Khaliq and father-of-three Jeynes, of Royston Hill, East Ardsley, in Khaliq's car.
The men persuaded her to walk into the woods where Jeynes, 24, kept watch while Khaliq launched a violent assault.
Khaliq knocked Miss Penrice to the ground and punched and kicked her in the face causing a fractured nose and told her to empty her pockets or he would "shoot her".
He then pushed her into the lake after she handed over a small amount of change and her mobile phone.
Khaliq, 25, of Heights Drive, Armley, was jailed for six years for his part in the attack.
The Recorder of Leeds, Judge Peter Collier told Khaliq: "It was a cold and miserable day, it had been snowing and she was in a desperate state. You said if she went to police you would go for her family. She had a very unpleasant experience giving evidence in court."
Judge Collier jailed Jeynes for four years. Both men had denied robbery but were convicted by a jury.
Khaliq has 27 previous convictions for violence and theft including a racially motivated road rage attack when he jumped into a terrified motorist's car and attacked him with a dumbbell.
Jeynes has 15 previous convictions for offences including criminal damage, burglary and possessing an offensive weapon.
