MALCOLM Ball, the man credited with turning around the fortunes of London's wine tasting attraction, Vinopolis, has joined Town and Country Markets, the owner of Morley Market, in the post of chief executive.
Town and Country Markets is the UK's largest, private sector owner and operator of retail markets and has operations across 35 sites.

Mr Ball said: "It's both an exciting and challenging time for markets.
"The rising cost of living and effects of the credit crunch are making consumers seek out a better deal.

"This said, we're not looking to merely compete on price – there's much more to markets than that.

"Today's shoppers are far more discerning and issues surrounding food miles, packaging and supporting local, ethical and environmentally-sound producers are moving to the fore.

"I intend on using my experience from the food and drink sectors into making a visit to a market more than just shopping.

"It needs to become a destination of choice and offer some traditional theatre and occasional banter, where the customer experience makes them want to return.
