A SEXUAL assault on a teenage girl in Morley town centre is being linked to a previous incident where a man exposed himself to two women.
Morley police are now warning women to be on their guard and they believe it's possible the same man is responsible.

The 16-year-old girl was assaulted as she walked through Windsor Court shopping precinct around 7.30pm on Monday, January 25.

She was approached by a man who began talking to her before making a suggestive comment. The girl walked away from him but he went on to sexually assault her.

It is possible that the same man indecently exposed himself to two women in Morley just a week before.

The women were at the junction of Magpie Lane and High Street on Sunday, January 17, at around 8.30am when a man exposed himself to them.

He then ran off towards South Queen Street and got into a metallic blue saloon car parked outside the doctor's surgery and drove off.

One of the women then saw the man minutes later driving down Chartists Way.

Yesterday morning Morley neighbourhood police team launched an appeal for information into both incidents.

The same description has been given to police by both sets of victims.

He is described as white, in his mid-30s to early 40s, bald, around 5ft 6ins tall and of stocky build.

During the first incident, on January 17, he wore heavy clothing and was walking a large dog, which is described as looking like a sheepdog.

When he attacked the girl, the man wore a blue and white polo shirt, cream shorts and cream trainers.

Insp Joanne Morgan, who leads Morley NPT, said that officers are carrying out a number of enquiries in the community.

She said: "We are keeping an open mind as to whether the incidents are linked due to the similar descriptions of the man involved.

"I would appeal to anyone who can assist in identifying the man, or people who were in the area at the time, to come forward. In the first incident the description of the dog is quite distinctive and in the second, the man's clothing is quite distinctive."

Anyone with any information about either of the two incidents is asked to contact Morley NPT on (0113) 2382035.
