My, my! There will be no escape from Eurovision tunes in the aisles this weekend.

Supermarket chain Morrisons will have a string of continental classics playing in-store to get customers in the mood for the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday.

More than 50 tracks from previous winners, such as Making Your Mind Up by Bucks Fizz and Abba’s Waterloo will be added to the usual playlist from Friday.

The pop classics, which span the last six decades, will feature at all of Morrisons 504 supermarkets.

Rebecca Singleton, Central Retail Operations Director at Morrisons, said: “Over the past 60 years the Eurovision Song Contest has become a very British celebration - and we’re happy to mark that, for this big anniversary.

“Many of our customers will be stocking up for their Eurovision parties this week, so it stands to reason that we should play some classics from the competition and help them get in the right mindset.”

The list of Eurovision hits being played in-store by Morrisons includes: Bucks Fizz, Making Your Mind Up, 1981; Abba, Waterloo, 1974; Conchita Wurst, Rise Like A Phoenix, 2014; Bonnie Tyler, Believe In Me, 2013; Celine Dion, Ne Partez Pas San Moi, 1988; Sandie Shaw, Puppet on a String, 1967; Jedward, Lipstick, 2011; Olivia Newton-John, Long Live Love, 1974; Michael Ball, One Step out of Time, 1992; and Wakefield’s Brotherhood of Man, Save All Your Kisses For Me, 1976.

The Eurovision hits will be played in-store at Morrisons in Wakefield, Castleford and other stores throughout the day on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23.
