An Indian restaurant proved it was not just flavour of the month after winning an award for its food.

Prashad, in Whitehall Road, Drighlington, scooped the Culinary Excellence Award from breakdown service firm the AA.

It’s is the only Indian restaurant in the region to hold the accolade.

Managing director Bobby Patel said: “We’re delighted. It’s a big award for our team, and a huge vote of confidence in Indian vegetarian food, which makes it extra special.”

The restaurant was founded in Bradford more than 20 years ago and was featured on TV chef Gordon Ramsay’s Best Restaurant series, which aired on Channel 4 in 2010.

It has also released one vegetarian cookery book and plans to launch its second in August. The restaurant was founded by Mr Patel’s parents, Kaushy and Mohan Patel.
