Public transport users have been told to brace themselves for a Christmas services closedown.
West Yorkshire passenger transport authority Metro has confirmed that no local trains will be operating in the county on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
Engineering work is also expected to cause serious disruption to journeys on the East Coast Main Line between Leeds and London on Friday, December 27.
Bus services will begin winding down after 6pm on Christmas Eve before grinding to a complete halt after 8pm, but Metro will again be organising special services on Boxing Day to shopping centres, retail parks and hospitals. The buses will run on a half-hourly basis between 9am and 6pm on what are described as “main routes” in places including Leeds and Wakefield. A Saturday bus service will operate across most of the county on December 27.
