One of the country’s leading delivery firms has seen a massive growth in sales as well as a record Christmas at it’s headquarters in Tingley.
Following a 20 per cent growth year-on-year over the past three years for Hermes, formally known as Parcelnet, the company expanded its services at Capitol Park to meet the soaring demand for its courier delivery network.
And that means good news for Morley’s economy too, explained Robert Beaumont, a spokesman for Sterling Capitol, the owners of Capitol Park.
“It’s a massive boost for Tingley, Morley and beyond,” he said.
Mr Beaumont said that the park’s location and range of facilities was suited for such a high-calibre business.
He said: “We’re delighted that Hermes, one of our tenants, has enjoyed such a superb year. The park is an ideal place for their operations.”
Hermes, received a National Business Award in the Growth Business of the Year category, having been recognised for their significant expansion which has seen a 53 per cent growth in parcel volumes in the past three years, with a further 15-20 per cent expected in the 2013 figures.
Over the past three years, there have also been 1500 new jobs created at the site which has led to an increase in traffic.
Mr Beaumont said: “We are very proud to have implemented a green travel plan aiming to promote cycling, walking and car sharing to minimise traffic.”
Capitol Park is looking forward to an exciting and prosperous year as well as hoping to attract more companies. Once the vicinity is full, Sterling Capitol hope to expand.
