Churwell Environmental Volunteers received a donation from supermarket Asda to improve the area’s green spaces.

Morley’s Asda Leeds Home Shopping Centre, gave the green-fingered bunch £50 as part of it’s Chosen by you.. given by us initiative.

The community focused charity say the monies will go towards a new pond dipping stage and thanked Asda for their contribution.

The environmental charity was one of three non-profit organisations voted for by workers at the Howley Park Road store over a period of two months.

The £50 has been funded by the Asda Foundation, which was set up in 1988 to support local good causes chosen by Asda colleagues, and is funded by profits from the mid-week national lottery.

A spokesperson for Asda Leeds Home Shopping Centre, said: “This scheme reflects our commitment to supporting the local community. We’re thrilled to give Churwell Environmental Volunteers this donation and would like to thank everyone for taking part”
