A concert organised by a former mayor of Morley will be held to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The concert, at Huddersfield Parish on Saturday May 7, 7.15pm, will raise funds for SSAFA, the armed forces charity and the UK’s oldest tri-service military charity, of which the Queen is patron.

Organiser and county chairman of SSAFA, Terry Grayshon said: “I’m delighted that the Band of the Yorkshire Regiment has very kindly agreed to perform this gala concert to celebrate the 90th Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.

“Her Majesty has been the patron of SSAFA since ascending the throne and I know that the Queen is very much interested in the work of SSAFA.

“The Band of the Yorkshire Regiment has produced an eclectic mix of music for the concert and I know that all those who are attending will thoroughly enjoy the evening, I do hope that as many people as possible will come and support the event.”

Tickets are £10 and available from tickets.kirklees.gov.uk or on the door.
