Year six pupils at Westerton Primary School would certainly have impressed Gregg Wallace and John Torade at their Masterchef competition final.

There was plenty of chopping, slicing and mixing taking place throughout the afternoon with some delicious aromas coming from the kitchen.

With everything from a vegetarian shepherd’s pie, Thai green curry, to a spiced chicken cous cous dish, the four finalists, Errin Tabor, Mason Green, Niran Tejura and Jamie Hofland-Ward, showed their cooking talents, all worthy of the top spot.

The guest judge was John Lock, manager of The Castle in Sandal, who, along with members of staff, had the great honour of watching pupils at work before tasting each speciality dish.

And it was Mason Green who impressed the most with his Mackerel fishcakes taking the top spot of Westerton Primary School’s Masterchef 2015.
