Deputy mayor under pressure at superstore

THE Deputy Mayor of Morley was right at the front of the queue when a new pharmacy opened its doors on Monday.

Coun Shirley Varley was given blood pressure and diabetes tests by Asqua Din, the new pharmacist at Asda.

The pharmacy will open until 11pm Monday to Friday as part of the company's aim to make pharmacies more accessible.

Ms Din said: "We have worked closely with the local primary care trust to create this new department and by offering extended opening hours we are providing an invaluable service that makes healthcare advice readily available to all, without the need for an appointment."

Coun Varley added: "It is important that in this economic climate when everyone is under greater stress than before facilities to address health problems need to be more widely available – which is what is happening here in Morley."

The new Asda Morley pharmacy will be open from 8am-11pm on Mondays; from 7am-11pm Tuesday to Saturday; and from 10am-4pm on Sunday.
