An evergreen Morley couple are celebrating after toasting their diamond wedding anniversary last week.
Dennis and Cynthia Marshall married on September 4 1954 after meeting at the annual Holbeck Feast the previous year. They have now lived in Morley for 31 years after moving from Beeston.
The couple celebrated six decades of happiness with a family get-together last weekend with their three children, two grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and will soon head off on a cruise round the Mediterranean to mark the date in style.
Both maintain an active lifestyle in retirement, with daredevil Dennis even performing a charity skydive for his 82nd birthday last year.
Cynthia, now 79, said: “It’s been an awfully long time, but in some ways getting married still feels like yesterday. The highlight has probably been having a family together.”
Dennis added: We’ve had a good life and when we sit down and think about it we realise that there’s not a lot we haven’t done.”
