Schools tuning up for Morley music festival


Hundreds of students from local schools are getting ready to take part in this year’s Morley Schools’ Festival of Music.

Organised by the Civic Duties Committee of Morley Town Council, the free event on Saturday is open to anyone in the community who wants to see pupils from schools throughout the town performing a range of music and choral numbers.

The annual festival will be held in Alexandra Hall at Morley Town Hall, Queen Street.

There will be a variety of performances from all the schools ranging from choirs, orchestras and drama, light refreshments will also be available.

Nine schools will be taking part in total.

Performance times in the morning are Newlands Primary at 9.30am; Westerton Primary at 9.50am; Woodkirk Academy at 10.20am; Hill Top Primary at 10.40am; Asquith Primary at 10.55am, and Gildersome Primary at 11.10.

The programme continues with Fountain Primary at noon before Victoria Primary at 12.30pm and Morley Academy at 12.45pm.
