Morley’s illustrious history will be celebrated with a series of events to mark the town’s Heritage Weekend this Saturday and Sunday.

An exhibition of old photos dating back to the 1960s will be on display in the banqueting hall throughout the weekend at Morley Town Hall, which will also host historic tours of the building at 10.30am and 2pm on Saturday with a meet and greet in the Mayor’s Parlour afterwards.

Morley Market meanwhile, will host its Viking education event on Saturday between 11am and 3pm where the town’s dark age history will be demonstrated by family-friendly re-enactment group Ornsheim Vikings.David Wilson, manager of Morley Market, said: “Morley’s got a lot of connections and history with the Vikings so this will be a real educational experience for children as well as a good point of interest for adults.”
