A bride-to-be is hoping that the generosity of Morley folk will help them win the wedding of their dreams.

Lynn Clare and partner Darren Maddisson have been inseparable since getting together four years ago with Darren popping the big question on Christmas Day.

Lynn, 44, who owns SprinkLynn Gems on Queen Street, said: “We have been looking at wedding venues and agreed to marry in 2017, giving us time to save.

“Then in January I came across an advert online - Win Your Wedding 2016 - which is run through Radio Aire and I decided to enter, not thinking it would amount to anything.

“So I was shocked when I received a call announcing we’d been shortlisted to just 20 couples and could we go along for an interview to discuss how they would go about raising money for Cash for Kids if we were successful in reaching the final stages of the competition.

“Well, we did just that! And now we’re one of six couples trying to raise as much as we can - the winner of the £22,000 wedding package being the couple that raises the most.”

Lynn spent four years in a children’s home from the age of 12 until being fostered at the age of 16 and says she can relate to the children Cash for Kids was set up to help.

“It responds to the needs of children in our community who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect. Helping raise money for them gives me the opportunity to thank, in a small way, for the kindness and compassion I was shown during those troubled years.”

Lynn and Darren, 48, were given just 18 days to fundraise, which ends THISmecarousel Sunday February 21 at midday.

Lynn said: “We have found ourselves in all manner of fundraising activities, culminating in a family fun day at the Miner’s Arms on Albert Road, Morley this Saturday February 20 from 2pm to midnight.”

There will be something for everyone at the event, from face painting, candyfloss, carousel, food, games and much more.

“Everyone is more than welcome.” Lynn said.
