HUDDLED together against the wind, dozens of teenagers laid flowers as they remembered two friends who died in a horror smash in Morley on Saturday.

Rhys Baker, 13, and George Wharton, 14, who are both from Morley, died after the road accident on the A62 Gelderd Road, Morley, on Saturday.

Their friends, 14-year-old Kameron Walters, and Joshua Van Veen, 15, remained in hospital in a critical condition last night, while the driver, a 21-year-old man, remained in a serious but stable condition.

Piles of brightly coloured flowers were building up at the side of the road yesterday, opposite CAT Finning, some placed in the trees, most with messages for the lost boys, some longer, some short, but all full of emotion.

One read: “To George,

Gonna miss you big lad. You really didn’t deserve this pal, and I wish it wasn’t you. I

am going to miss seeing you giggle and make everyone laugh pal, love you Chubs, Josh.”

Another, also for George, said: “It doesn’t seem real. You were so full of life and made everyone smile. You are the kindest, sweetest, most loving person I will ever meet. I never told you enough but I love you, so does everyone. I hope you’re looking down on me, because I’m looking up to you. I love you, love from Phoebe.”

A simple card read: “To George and Rhys, RIP never forgotten.”

Another said: “Rest in Peace. Thoughts go out to your families, love Taylor and Alex.”

One bunch of flowers, with three messages attached said: “You will be missed very much by everybody, too young to be taken. Love goes to the families. RIP.”

Another message said: “To George, Love you so much, you little ball of energy. You made me and everyone smile as soon as we saw you with your cute chubby cheeks. Gonna miss you so much mate. Sleep tight bro, love you, Callum.”

An investigation into the crash continues.
