JD Wetherspoon applies for Morley pub licence

JD Wetherspoon has submitted an application with the licensing department of Leeds City Council giving the opening hours of its new Morley venture.

The pub chain has made its application to open from 7am-12.30am Sunday to Wednesday, selling alcohol from 9am-midnight and open Thursday to Saturday from 7am-1.30am.

The application also said that it hopes to open on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, Maundy Thursday and Sundays preceding a Bank Holiday, for an additional hour.

On New Year’s Eve and News Year’s Day it hopes to open from 7am and the outside drinking area to be open until 11.30pm.

Wetherspoons is to open on Queen Street on the site of the former Blockbusters store and Arthritis UK shop.

After dozens of suggestions made by Observer & Advertiser readers were sent to the company, Wetherspoon bosses made the decision to call the pub The Picture House and will be filled with memorabilia from the town.

An official date of opening has yet to be given.
