It’s full steam ahead for Churwell Environmental Volunteers who are preparing a fun ride starting this spring.
Volunteers are busy preparing and levelling ground for a mini-woodland railway, which they are hoping will be running in time for the spring. As well as the job of laying the tracks, they are planning to construct woodland features such as rock piles and fungus logs alongside the railway line, together with shrubs and wild flowers, and marsh and water plants bordering the stream edge. The railway will be used at events as a fund raising vehicle. A spokesperson for the volunteers said: “It’s certain to be a firm favourite with everybody, but especially the dads!”
