THE final blocks are being put in place in the yellow brick road that will whisk these young actors from Morley to the magical Emerald City.

Everyone at Morley Amateur Operatic Society is busy putting the finishing touches to their production of The Wizard of Oz, which will open on Wednesday, September 19.

The set was delivered to Morley Town Hall on Saturday and the backstage team are busy creating a series of scenes including the prairies of Kansas, Munchkinland and the Wizard’s private chamber.

The wardrobe team is busy with scissors and needles and cast and chorus are polishing up their performances whether they have speaking roles or are mainly there to look cute, as in the case of Jack Russell/Westie cross Bessie.

Everything is in place to ensure The Wizard of Oz is yet another memorable production from the company that has been entertaining Morley audiences for generations.

Tickets to the show, which runs until Saturday, September 22, are still available for all performances and can be ordered by ringing 07960 766334 or bought from members who will be selling them in Morley Market this Friday and Saturday from 9.30am-noon.

Performances will be at 7.15pm and there will be a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.

Tickets for the opening night cost just £8, a saving of £2.
