Sophie May Williams hopes she has what it takes to be The Voice UK with a little help from superstar mentor Will-I-am and will be showcasing her vocal talent in Tingley tomorrow night.

Sophie May, from Wrenthorpe, is currently the bookies’ favourite to win BBC One show and will be drumming up more support singing at The New Scarborough pub on Dewsbury Road, Tingley, from 8pm.

The 17-year-old impressed Will-I-Am with her acoustic version of Cyndi Lauper’s classic Time after Time, and was the only coach to spin his chair around and send her through to the next stage.

The Black Eyed Peas rapper left it until the last moments of the song to push his button, resulting in his chair spinning around.

Sophie May has picked up the mic at the pub on many occasions with general manager Karen Rezaei describing her voice as “mesmerising.”

Sophie May will be one of 12 contestants on Team Will ready to compete in The Battle rounds ahead of the public vote.
