EVERY pupil and member of staff at Westerton Primary School has planted a daffodil, ensuring the bank behind the school will be awash with sunshine yellow next spring.

The bulbs were donated by the Morley Rotary Club and children and staff invited to make a donation to Wheatfields Hospice.

The idea was to brighten up an area of the grounds by involving lots of people while at the same time doing a little bit of good.

Former headteacher James Reid said: “This was one of my last jobs as head at the school and it was a very happy and satisfying task to organise.

“I should like to thank Martin and Steve from Bedford Mowing who spent the whole day digging around 800 holes and helping the children to plant the bulbs - pointy end up!”
