Birstall woman died in head-on motorway smash

A 20-YEAR-OLD woman died after a head-on collision on the M62 in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Rebecca Caine, who is thought to be from Birstall, died when her Chevrolet Matiz crashed with a Renault Megane near to junction 21 of the motorway at around 3am.

The driver of the Matiz and two other passengers suffered minor injuries.

A 31-year-old man from Clayton has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, fraud by false representation, driving without insurance and driving other than in accordance with a driving licence.

Wilfred Museka of Powell Street is due to appear at Bury Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday).
